Rigging by Z Spars

Our good friend Remi from Z-Spars prepared a special park avenue Boom which is awesome.

The custom boom allow you to walk in it and have a easier drop-down of the mainsail ... this is a very good feature that helps a lot in short handed.

the tri-pod mast and lower gosneck makes also the access to the boom easier.

we also installed a boom kicker for safety. in case someone releases the topping lift or the lazy bag, boom can't fall on the deck.

Incidences sailmaker has completed the works by doing a custom Lazy Bag. it is a 4 parts piece.
- On each side of the boom
- A piece that ''zips'' to the front
- A piece that close and ''zip'' on top but that is accessible from the top roof

Watermaker by Outbound Yacht Services

We installed a Catalina 340 Z for the reason that it works on 12 volts

http://www.spectrawatermakers.com/products/marine/catalina-340-z/

Here is the description

One of the Simplest, Most Energy Efficient Marine Watermakers Available Today

Catalina 340 Z-01
Increased Capacity!
High Mode: 14 Gallons for 20A
Low Mode: 12 Gallons for 15A
Easier to Install and Service
The new Catalina 340 Z is perfect watermaker for the midsize yacht with two to four people on board. Easier installation and service is made possible by the accessible fold-out design. And now the Catalina is multi-speed capable, making it simpler to manage power aboard your boat.
The new Catalina 340 Z now delivers 14 gallons an hour. It is easier than ever to install with four keyhole slots for mounting and a fold-out module for simple servicing. All electrical connections are color-coded plugs and all hoses have quick-connect fittings. The Catalina 340 Z is now multi-speed capable, allowing you to operate the machine on high mode for maximum product flow or low mode for maximum efficiency which is ideal for on board power management. The system is compatible with the Z-ION Membrane Protection System, that can store your system for up to 30 days without daily flushing or pickling. Available in both 12 volt DC or 24 volt DC configurations, these systems have the versatility and safety of low voltage operation and are one of the quietest running watermakers available.

The MPC 5000 Controller

mpc_5000Spectra’s most recent major technological advancement in control systems is the new MPC 5000. The MPC 5000 has all of the features of the well known industry standard MPC 3000, but with more accurate instrumentation, more features and enhanced reliability. With the MPC 5000 just set the desired run time and forget it, the MPC 5000 controller will do the rest. All of the control and instrumentation functions are displayed on a panel located in a convenient space such as your navigation area, away from the watermaker.
The MPC 5000 displays pre-filter condition, feed water pressure, water tank full status (with optional tank switch), product water quality, product flow rate and total system hours. The display can be set for either US standard or metric readouts. One touch to the MPC 5000 touch pad sets the Catalina 340 Z in motion. During startup, the reject water is automatically diverted back to the ocean by the controller. The desired amount of water then fills the storage tank, the system back washes itself clean and shuts itself off. The MPC 5000 controller can keep the Mk II in a fresh water storage state by backwashing every five days as long as needed. Just set it and forget it!
The MPC 5000 is fully programmable in the field by the owner or technician without special tools or computer connections. With its “mission critical” design, the MPC 5000 is engineered to keep the machine running even in the event of a critical alarm state. The system also has a full manual override in the rare event of a total control failure.

Sailing to Newport Beach boat show

First Big trip for Clapotis.
We sailed down to Newport beach for the boat show. Good wind. We tried the Gennaker and later the wind started to pick up. We hoisted the spinnaker and sailed a solid 9 to 10 knots downwind in the middle of the Cargo lines...

Clapotis was definitely the star of the boat show.
